Who are the competitors?
Startups meeting the following criteria:

There are two pre-rounds with two thematic clusters each. In each pre-round, about 10 startups pitch against each other in front of a jury of investors. In each cluster theย best startup is selected by the jury to move to the final and publicly informed on stage through the moderator right after the pre-round.

VC Jury:
Together with the other jury members, you have handpicked the participating startups (contestants) based on hundreds of applications
We welcome the Top50 of those at Bits & Pretzels, but only the 20 best of them (Rising20) are invited to pitch live on stage to compete for a spot in the grand final.
The jury divides up the sessions, but in each pre-round at least three jury members will be present.
You will be evaluating the pitches in the pre-rounds to select the finalists.
You will be evaluating the pitches on the big Bits & Pretzels stage to select the European Pitch Contest Award Winner.

<aside> ๐ When: We have informed you about the date and time of the pre-round we assigned you via email. Where: Visionaries Stage Meeting Point: At the entrance of the respective stage. There will be members of the Bits & Pretzels team welcoming you.
Please be at the respective stage 15 min prior to the start of the preliminary round for the technical setup.

<aside> ๐ Suggestions for the pitching startups
Focus? We strongly recommend startups to follow this structure:
They have three minutes to pitch. The moderator will strictly keep the time and the pitch will be ended after three minutes sharp. The three minutes are followed by a Q&A with you, the jury.

Evaluation criteria
We will provide you with a personalized file to structure your notes and comments on site at Bits & Pretzels.
Please apply the following criteria for evaluating the startups pitching on stage to select the cluster winners.
Value Propositionย (i. convincingness, ii. uniqueness, iii.assumed defensibility)
Productย (i. ease of use (UX/UI), ii. solving the problem, iii. comprehensiveness
Marketย (i. number of customers, ii. annual contract value, iii. ease of Go-To Market)
Teamย (perceived quality and fitness for the role in startup of presenter, e.g. street-smartness, capability to sell the story and lead a team (see also below))
Pitchingย (i convincingness, ii. storytelling, iii. logical structure & conclusive argumentation, iv. energy / positivity) </aside>

Your moment on stage
Before the startups pitch, every jury member has 2 minutes to present themselves as well as their fund on stage. No slides, just words. Please feel free so share who you are, what expertise you have and some words on your fund.
